Broome, Derby, Halls Creek, Kununara

Broome, Derby, Halls Creek, Kununara

Hi once again,

Broome what can I say 31 days of doing nothing except Sunsets, Swimming, beaches and warm weather.
Sample Pearl shells

As I said we spent a month in Broome and I must say enjoyed every minute of our time there  mind you we had a lot of wind, not always warm enough to go swimming and our last week was a disaster as first I got the flu and than Bianka, but we are over it now thank goodness.

Picnicking in the red dunes. beach in back James Price Point

After Broome we headed for Derby and decided to do a tour to see Winjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek, didn't feel like driving there and as for the cost it added up to much the same as if we did it ourselves, tour included morning and afternoon tea and lunch and a lot of commentary, information we would not have gotten on our own, and a day to see it, was enough.

Derby also has the highest/lowest tides (10 meters) in the world and something to see and we where fortunate to see this high/low tide my standing under the wharf (15 meters high) is something to remember.

Leaving Derby we headed East for Kunnunara where we are now after a overnight stop, our nightmare started, the Prado started to over heat and we ended up having to call on the RACV to organize to be picked up  139Km's out of  Halls Creek my Tom Tom GPS told me

139Km's out of  Halls Creek

Loading begins

Ready to head for Halls Creek
stuck in Halls Creek

Halls Creek CV notice the space apart, with sullage and tap in the middle
for 4 days while a mechanic tried to figure out what is wrong after pressure test it seemed that it was the radiator cap, so on the Friday we did a test drive to,

The killer no where to be seen
Wolf Creek Crater where the famous film was made about the killing of all those back packers.

Click on picture and you can read the making of  the Crater

Green tree line circle is the Meteorite we walked from this end to far end and up and around

To walk across and around took approx 2 hours

Many people walk it as the trek indicates

Click on to see the Bird flower

Maybe these are the sheds where the film was shot, when the killer was killing backpackers in the film
The car ran great with no over heating and we had a great day seeing this very large crater, 300km return of dirt and Corrugation.
Next day hooked on the Van and headed for Kununara 30Ks out of town

Here we go again same trouble after Halls Creek ,over heating
the problem returned and we struggled all the way into Kununara after a overnight stop in a freecamp, so once again we are stuck, not knowing what the problem is.

Are leaving Kununara Monday still no answer to my problem this will be a slow trip to Darwin for a fix we hope.
